Oval Cut

  • Another name for an oval cut diamond is Briolette.
  • A unique feature of this particular cut is that the oval cut diamonds do not have a table, culet, or edge, but instead, are covered throughout with triangular-shaped facets.
  • Due to this unique shape, the oval cut diamonds are most commonly pierced through at the top, so that they may be worn in a suspended fashion.
  • An oval cut diamond can offer you almost the same sparkle as that of a round brilliant cut diamond.
  • A length-to-width ratio of 1.5:1 is considered optimum, while a ratio of up to 1.75:1 is acceptable. Ideally, you should look for a length-to-width ratio that lies within the range of 1.33:1 to 1.66:1.
  • The oval cut, like all the other fancy cuts such as Emerald, Marquise, Heart, Pear and Princess Cuts help in cutting the diamond in such a way that it maximizes the carat weight.
  • The Oval cut is ideal for women with short and small fingers, as the oval shape makes the fingers look slender and elegant.
